  2. Click the Example button on the form. This opens an example sheet with data for the tool you are using.
  3. With your mouse, select the data sets as explained in the example sheet, then click the OK button to print the report.

The window below pops up:

Business Performance Test Software for Sales Promotion Analysis

Place the cursor in the field Input range and with the mouse select the range on the sheet where the data are. In the next section you can read more about the shape and kind of input data feasible for analysis. In an input range there must be at least two columns and two rows of data. The check box Column labels included detects automatically whether there are text labels in the first row or not and it sets the option accordingly. In the field Output range select with the mouse the cell on the sheet where you want the output report to begin. Finally, assign a Probability value larger than zero and smaller than 1. Setting a large value for probability requires a large difference between groups in order to be significant, and vice versa.

The tool prints by default a summary table showing the result of paired tests between input items. The options in the lower part of the tool form refine and enlarge the analysis report. Check the option Print statistics if you want a table of descriptive measures such as mean, standard deviation, etcetera of the input data. Input data chart is a common line chart showing the user input data. The Averages chart shows average and variance values for each group accounted for the analysis.

When active, the check box Quadrant analysis prints in output a summary table showing, for one pair of input items to be chosen from the list box below the check box, the paired performance of each element of both groups and it supplies useful statistics.

More information concerning the meaning of the output report created with Variation Analyst can be found in the section Anatomy of a Variation Analyst Report.
