Example 3: supplementary data

Passive (or supplementary) points are bubbles displayed on the map, which do not contribute to the overall orientation of the map. The Supplementary data function built into Brand Mapping is useful in marketing for the following reasons at least:

  1. Drawing dynamic maps that show the position of competing products over time.
  2. Combining product preference and advertising awareness in order to visualize the players elements of brand image.

Both applications can be of great use when working on product positioning. This section looks at two examples.
