Business Formulas

mmDBSUM

Category: Database Analysis

The database formula mmDBSUM returns the sum of values of a variable item selected according to two other variables from the same dataset. It works like the Excel formula SUMIF, but uses one more variable. Database formulas can be used to make bivariate tables. They work like the Pivot Table tool of Excel, but make the construction of custom tables more flexible.

Syntax

mmDBSUM(Label1, Column1, Label2, Column2, Search_Column, Database)

Label1 The first text label to search for
Column1 The column to search for the first text label
Label2 The second text label to search for
Column2 The column to search for the second text label
Search_Column The column to extract data from
Database The whole range where the data is stored

Example

See example file Business Formulas.xls, sheet mmDBSUM.
