Business Formulas

mmVARc, Coefficient of Variation

Category: Forecast

The Coefficient of Variation compares the relative dispersion of two or more distributions expressed in different units. For example, if the employees of a firm have a mean height of 1.79 meters with a standard deviation of 6 cm, but a mean weight of 89.4 kg with a standard deviation of 9.5 kg, we can say that heights are less varied than weights because the coefficients of variation are, respectively, 0.029 and 0.095.
